A “thankful author” is an author who expresses gratitude for the gift of writing, acknowledging the people and experiences that have influenced their work. I am going to claim this day as a day of thankfulness and encourage writers to think about the many people who bless and enrich our lives.
Here are some things that I am grateful for as an author:
- The gift of writing
- Being able to share my writing with children
- My husband who doesn’t mind eating leftovers while I am getting ready for a manuscript submission
- Love and support of my family
- Critique groups who offer helpful advice.
- Authors who write better than I do. They inspire me to do better
- My friends who believe that I am the best writer they’ve ever read. I really appreciate their love and support!
- Editors who catch all those mistakes that I know are there, but I just can’t see them.
- That more experienced author friend who takes me under her wing and helps me become a better writer.
- Mentors who guide you through the writing, publishing and marketing process.
- That reader who takes the time to read and review your book, even though you know they are busy.
- Parents who purchase my book for children
- Librarians who have my books on their shelves
- Teachers who share books with children every day.
- Agents who take the time to add a note of encouragement in their rejection letter
- Being able to publish two award winning best selling books
- Writing for children is a passion for me. One that brings me great joy!
What are you thankful for this season?

With gratitude …
I am so glad you’re here. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I am grateful that I can share my writing journey with you. It is an endless journey of learning and growing. A journey that I am enjoying.
I am now booking author visits for the spring, 2025 school year. If you are a classroom teacher, teacher assistant, Parent Teacher Association President, or After school Director I can work with you to create a visit that will meet the needs of your students. Please contact me to book your visit.
My website has been updates and it is now interactive. There are surprises everywhere. Click on the balloons and see where they take you. Can you find two writing videos? Freebies? A chocolate chip recipe? There’s even a special freebie to anyone who subscribes to my newsletter. Check out the resources for children, parents and teachers, librarians and homeschooling families.
Please consider purchasing a copy of Two Wins for Wiley or Gertie Saves the Day for gifts. The holidays are quickly approaching and books make great gifts. Books can be read over and over again. It is my wish to get as many books as I can into the hands of children. Children need to hear all kinds of stories. A book is the best gift for both children and adults!
