What was the award submission process like?
The submission process is very simple for authors. On their website you can complete a quick application, upload your book and pay the application fee. I received my letter regarding the book review in about 5-6 weeks. Gertie Saves the Day received a 5 Gold Star Review!
The author interview gives readers a chance to get to know you as an author and more about your book and illustrations. I found the questions to be thoughtful and interesting for their readers. I received a link directly to the interview and I think you will find my responses of interest.
Gertie Saves the Day received the Gold Literary Titan Book Award. You can imagine my excitement. I could not wait to share the news with family and friends. Ordering a certificate and some gold medallions to place on the book cover was the next and final step. The Importance of Children’s Picture Book Awards
Award winning children’s picture books are important for many reasons and for many different consumers. Book awards acknowledge the author and all of the hard work that went into writing the book. Children’s book publishers, writers, and illustrators use award winning books as examples of what is considered to be “the best”. Book awards help introduce new readers to award winning books through exposing books to larger audiences. Teachers and librarians look for these award winning books to share with children in and out of the classroom. Parents, grandparents and other readers may also rely on these award when selecting children’s picture books.
