Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes

I guess you have been wondering why my blog posts have paused.  The answer is very simple. I welcomed a new granddaughter into our family on August 4th. It is very difficult to concentrate and write blog posts when you can be holding your new granddaughter.

While I have been on pause I have been working on a few things.  You will be seeing some guest blog posts in the next few weeks. These blogs will be leading up to the launch of my first picture book, Gertie Saves the Day. As I mention on my website, https://karennespoli.com I want to share my journey from writing and illustrations, to publishing to marketing.  These next few blog posts should help you as writers to understand the process to bring a picture book to completion.

Future Blog Posts

One of the posts I hope to share will be from my illustrator, Daniela Massironi. Daniela lives and works in Italy. I thought that writers who subscribe to my blog might enjoy reading about picture books illustrations and how the words and illustrations come together in a book. You will learn about her process and her perspective of illustrating a picture book. Working with an illustrator is truly collaboration and communication is key to the success of any project.

Another one of the guest posts will be from my publisher, Miriam Laundry. I have asked her to write about her experience of collaborating with Jack Canfield on her picture book. I have also asked her to share her journey from Guinness Book of World Record holder to publisher. You can look forward to learning more about her journey in a few weeks. It is my hope that you will enjoy the different perspectives from my guests.

Author Interview

I will also be providing an interview with the author. Yes, that’s me! Friends have asked me many questions about writing this children’s book. One of the most asked questions is why now? Why are you writing this book now? Each of us has at least one story that needs to be shared. Why not now? Now is as good a time as any. There are children out there that need our stories to help them better understand the world around them. We all have stories and our stories need to be shared!

Your Challenge

This week I challenge you to think about what is holding you back?

Why not now? Take a look at the excuses you have created, and then decide if you are ready to take a risk and write that story.
